Practice Management

  • SHEENA MATHIE

    Practice Manager

The practice manager is responsible for the management and administration of the practice. We are fortunate to have a team of experience reception staff who aim to provide an efficient and friendly service at all times. Mrs Mathie would be happy to hear your views and suggestions about the services provided by the practice.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Community Midwives

The midwives are based at St Andrews Community Hospital and run weekly antenatal clinics at Skeith Health Centre on Thursday mornings. They can be contacted by telephoning 01334 465848. Please leave your message on the answering machine and they will return your call as soon as possible.

Community Nurses

The community nursing team help to look after people who are confined to their home and need nursing care. They can be contacted on weekdays by telephoning 01333 310329.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are trained nurses who have gone on to complete further training in public health. They specialise in the support and care of families with children under 5 years. They work to the Universal Health Visiting Pathway and offer a core home visiting programme of 11 home visits to families and 3 child health reviews at 13 - 15 months, 27 - 30 months, and 4 - 5 years. Families who move into the area will also be offered a visit to introduce the service. Additional support visits will take place as required for families with extra needs as negotiated with the family. They are based at Skeith Health Centre and can be contacted on 01333 314312 (an answering machine is available outside office hours which are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm). There are also health visitor students and nursing students frequently working with the team. The health visiting team can be contacted for any support and advice needed for your child's health and wellbeing.
